What is this course about?

The HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course is a nationally recognised training course designed to equip participants with the essential skills to respond to cardiac emergencies. Whether you need CPR certification for workplace compliance or simply want to be prepared for emergencies, this course provides practical, hands-on training that could help save a life. Training is available in Newcastle, the Hunter Valley, and the Central and Mid North Coast of NSW, ensuring convenient access for participants across the region.

  • Units Delivered

    Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for the following unit:

    • HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

  • Course Duration

    Course durations can vary, but the minimum times required are:

    • Face-to-Face: At least 2 hours of in-person training

    • Online + Face-to-Face Assessment: Online coursework with at least 20 minutes of in-person assessment

Entry Requirements

To ensure participants can complete the practical components of the course, the following requirements apply:

  • Must have the physical ability to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor

  • Must be able to perform rescue breathing techniques on manikins

  • For online study: Access to a computer, smartphone, or tablet with an internet connection is required

Assessment Activities

To achieve competency, students must complete:

  • Performance Tasks & Practical Scenarios:

    • Perform CPR on an adult, including using an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position

    • Perform CPR on an infant

  • Theory Assessment:

    • A written multiple-choice exam to assess theoretical knowledge
